A BRIEF HISTORY OF MSC FLC
The Memorial Student Center Fall Leadership Conference began at Texas A&M in the fall of 1953. Just after moving into the new Memorial Student Center, the MSC Council President-elect, John D. Samuels II, noticed new Council members were having a difficult time communicating. He decided that a conference at the beginning of the year could help instill leadership skills and create a lasting bond among the student leaders. From these initial plans, the first MSC Fall Leadership Conference was born.
The first conference consisted of about 25 students from the MSC Directorate. The conference was a success, resulting in definite improvements, and was hosted the following fall. This time it was expanded to include members of the Corps of Cadets leadership, as well as other MSC members and staff.
The MSC Fall Leadership Conference has now expanded to include more than 100 delegates from a broad range of campus organizations. From Student Government to the Student Engineer's Council, MSC FLC unites student leaders and cultivates leadership skills through interactive programs and speakers. Students, staff, and former students gather to focus on personal growth while learning from each other and having a great time.
THE CATHY AND WILLIAM W. DAVIS '75
FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE DINNER AND FIRESIDE CHAT
The conference committee would like to thank Cathy and William W. Davis '75 for their contribution to MSC FLC. The Cathy and William W. Davis ’75 Fall Leadership Conference Dinner and Fireside Chat is the highlight of the student leaders’ MSC FLC experience every year. Texas A&M former students share their Aggie memories, wisdom and guidance with students during dinner and small group discussions. While the academic landscape has changed on campus, the camaraderie and bond Aggies share touches every generation. To contribute to MSC FLC, visit our Contribute page.
